How to configure Aruba VIA to start manually
This article applies to anyone who wants to prevent Aruba VIA from attempting to connect the VPN automatically, and eliminating unnecessary Two-Factor Notifications from Duo.
Step-by-step guide - Windows 10
The first item is what you should do each time you're finished using the VPN. The second is a one-time change to prevent Aruba VIA from starting automatically.
Exit Aruba VIA when you're done using the VPN connection
When you're finished using the VPN, find the little green Aruba VIA icon in the taskbar (down by the clock), right-click on it, and select "Exit".
(you may need to click on the little up-arrow to see it):- VIA will ask you if you are sure; just confirm and you're done.
- Then, the next time you need the VPN, simply click on the desktop Icon for Aruba VIA and it will connect (and trigger a Duo two-factor authentication when you expect it).
Remove Aruba VIA from automatic startup
- Click on the "Start" Button and then click the "wheel" for settings
- Type "startup" into the search box near the top of the window and select "startup apps"
- Locate "Aruba Virtual Internet Agent" in the list of programs (it should b near the top), and click on the toggle to turn it off.
Close the window and you're done!
- Click on the "Start" Button and then click the "wheel" for settings
